Well really a Javalena is closer to a RAT then a pig. I was drawn for the offensive rats on the HAM hunt so now I have to figure out which revolver to use - 44mag, BFG450marlin, 480 Ruger (on a tarus) or S&W 500. Decsions decsions...
You going rat hunting kdub?

You guys crack me up - it's hard to believe you have to get drawn for tags. Through most of south Texas they're considered something of a nuisance and landowners pretty much beg you to shoot them.
On the other hand they're mostly dumb enough that it wouldn't be too hard to shoot them completely out, if enough people got ambitious.
One pistol in each hand - I think it's the only fair choice!!! Have fun.

We have to get drawn for elk, deer and even these little rats. Its a communist plot. However, Arizona has the best gun laws in the nation so makes up for some of this :p
No, Zep -
I ain't huntin' the stinkin' li'l varmits!!!
Used to put in for them just to go out as an armed hiker, but gave that up when the breath started getting short.
I'd suggest taking the .500 S&W - blow them into such little pieces, there's no need to worry about having to gut and skin 'um. Last one I drilled had his lights put out with a .44 mag. Sorta stiffened up, quivered a bit and passed on to hog heaven.
Yeah, Mike - anything worth shooting in Ariz has to be drawn for. We don't have an abundance of any one species, but have an abundance of species! Can still get lion tags over the counter year 'round, and coyotes are available on the general hunting license.

And Elk...
But here in Caliland, we get pigs, upland game birds and bear over the counter. Elk, Deer, Antelope, Sheep we have to draw for.

I can own everything the you cant in Kalifornia
I own a Class III weapon!
This is a MUST ISSUE state for a CCW
I can own a belt fed machine gun if I chose.... :p
True, you do have more liberals, can you buy a tag for them? :D

You have to get tags for pigs? We don't have have to tag javelinas..... and the laws were loosened to the point you really don't even need a hunting license for pigs on private land!
Unfortunately, the liberals are plentiful here, also....
Yeah, Mike -
The stinking little vermin are classified as "big game" here - Lord only knows why! Why, I even know some people who eat them!

After posting last night, it occurred to me that it's probably just to raise revenue for the game wardens.
If we made people jump through hoops to shoot them here, we'd be up to our eyeballs by now.

We're not shooting little piggies out here. These are hogs that weigh up to 300 Lbs! You get a good hog and it is good eatin' and half fills your freezer for the rest of the year! We pay $18 for 5 tags and you can get as many tags as you like. There is no season, they are open game all year round.
Needless to say, we got alot of um.
MikeG

That sounds pretty reasonable. 5 pigs would be all I'd generally care to mess with in a year, anyway.

I'm sorry, I made a mistake. it is not $18.00 for 5 tags, it is $8.00 for 5ive tags! I think most guys only get one or two per year if your lucky and know someone on privat land. The militarty bases have pigs but mopst of them will not allow sevillians.

don't know if you heard, but Kali pig tags are now officially scheduled to increase to $15.75 PER TAG !!! The increase is set for 01 July 2004.
Yep, ugly and true, just like the congressLosers that keep getting elected.
So please write Arnold and every elected official to let 'em know a price increase of over 800% per tag just doesn't make us happy here in Kali.
And I do not know what an out-of-state pig tag will cost.
Cheers,
Carl

That's very bad news. I can assure you, you need fewer wild pigs, not more. Population will likely explode..... wait till it starts hitting agriculture hard.

AND HERE IN ALASKA,
I don't need a CCW to carry concealed
Grizzly bear tag costs $25
Moose tag is free over the counter
Dall sheep tag is free over the counter
Goat tag is free over the counter
I can shoot up to 5 caribou each year
I can also shoot up to 5 deer a year
AND don't have to pay sales tax on guns in Anchorage.

Stroker,
I figured how to do that too. Got a buddy that's a cop and I go shooting with him. Buy the same caliber gun as his issued weapon and shoot most of his issued ammo.

Yes that would work if the cops here would get some man size guns they like the little bitty .40 cal now. Quess I could shoot em with my splitfire's at 100 g's

Mike, I'm responding to an old post.
About twenty years ago. Me and a friend actually paid $300 each to go hunting for the "wild javalina of South Texas".
The guide spotted them on a road and we were told to "stalk" within shooting range. We closed to 100 yds, 75 yds, 50 yds, 30 yds. At 15 yards, I started laughing. The wind shifted and I caught a wiff of my first "javalina" They smell just like a skunk. All of the hunting mystery was gone. I didnt shoot one, but my friend did.
After he started cleaning it, he decided that he probably shouldn't have clipped that little gland on its back. It just plain stunk. We paid the rancher and I hope I never see one of them again.
Feral hogs rule!
