[SIZE=7]Just purchased a new Smith and Wesson SW99 in 45 ACP while I haven't shot it much yet it appears to function well, is light and while not exactly small enought to be considered a concealed carry weapon it will scare the crap out of anyone dumb enough to confront the buisness end
My question is about hand loading for this weapon/ caliber.
Have never hand loaded before What equipment do I need and where can I find it.
Would like to get into it as cheap as possible
Any help would be appreciated

Your probly not gonna like chasing the brass for the 45auto unless you have some sort of mat or catch. but I would try www.midwayusa.com or something like that. In most cases you can get an entire RCBS starter kit for under $300 plus 45 acp dies.
Have fun..

ps its always nice to have some experience older handloader to help you learn, a person like that can be more valuable than any manual. but read as much as you can handle.

Many of us started with Lee equipment and have loaded an awful lot of good ammo with it. In all fairness, Cabela's has some RCBS starter kits that aren't bad, and I'm still using a 50 year old Lyman C press I inherited a long time ago. I reload every caliber I shoot except rimfire. I don't save a dime. I do shoot a lot more on my dime and have access to loads that I couldn't buy. Mostly I enjoy it. Make sure you buy a good manual as one of your first purchases and don't cut corners.

I bought a Lee Anniversary Kit over a decade ago and have loaded thousands of rounds with it. The kit can be bought for less than $100 and all you need to add is a set of dies in your prefered caliber(s), plus the usual powder, cases, bullets & primers. Don't just buy one loading manual though, buy as many as you can afford. Three would be a minimum and four or five would be ideal. Also get as many loading guides as you can from the powder manufacturers, they have a lot of info in them. You can usually find them at your local gun shop or you can get them free (a lot of times) through the mail or via a phone call (not to mention the web). Oh yeah, the money you save from buying the Lee kit as compared to other brands can be used to buy a case tumbler(cleaner machine) and a few other gadgets.
