Hey guys i have a taurus .357 magnum with an 8 3/8" barrel on it and i just put a pretty sweet BSA red dot scope on it and I am just wondering what kind of bullet i should use to go hog hunting with it. Thanks Jake.

If you reload check out the hardcast bullets on this site. If you dont Federal loads a hardcast for its premium line of handgun ammunition. For jacketed stuff I'd look at heavy for caliber (180gr) controlled expansion choices like nosler partition HG or something similar. I am more familiar with .41 and .44 caliber stuff thats out there but most makers offer some heavy hitting fodder for fans of the .357.

Jake,
Use the Federal CastCore if you can find it. If not see what you can find from Cor-Bon, they will sell direct if you can't find what you need locally. Send them an email, they usually respond good and the address is on their site.
Oh and just curious, where are you going hog hunting? Best of luck.

Hi Jake,
Let us know how you do. If those hogs get out of hand.... I'll be glad to show you what a .458 Win does to them. Makes a good start on the field-dressing.....

If you handload you might consider the LBT 185-200 gr. hard cast FN GC bullet. They have a wide meplat and will give you all the pentration you need and then some, as well as opening up one heck of a wound channel. If you don't reload, check out the Cor-Bon 180 and 200 gr. offerings ( http://mysite.elixirlabs.com/catalog/index.php?file=catalog&prod_pcategory=49225&clist=0,49198,49225&uid=12665&gpoid= ) and Buffalo Bore Ammunition heavy .357 load ( http://www.buffalobore.com/ammunition/default.htm#357 ).
