What 9mm handgun would you suggest for non-competive, but frequent, target shooting (25 yards?) I'm in the $1500 - $2000 range.
Thanks

Oh this is soooo easy for me. The HK Elite ($1350). It is NOT legal for IPSC or IDPA though, but absolutely excels in bullseye, but since you said it was for non-competitive use, the Elite is IMO the cream of the crop. Next would be the Expert ($1250). These are the main two in 9mm that would fill your needs. If interested in .45 ACP then you should also consider the Tac ($900-$1,000). While the Tac in 9mm does exist, it is extremely rare and I am sure $2K wouldn?t even touch one, if you could even find it. The no longer imported Match was mostly in .45 ACP, but they do exist in 9mm but are bringing ridiculous prices now ($1,200-$1,500) for a used pistol that sold new for under $1,000. If you really wanted something awe-inspiring the Mk 23 SOCOM in .45 ACP has very little recoil, but it is a huge pistol and if you have small hands, it may be too big for you. This pistol is the top of the line HK and built like a tank. With a retail price of $2,444 and a street price of $1,800, it is the most expensive of the group, but it sure is a nice pistol. It is not available in 9mm though. Any of the above guns are capable of 1 inch five shot groups from a rest with match ammo at 25 yards, and I flat guarantee you that any will be more accurate than you are. They are all that good.
One other HK that is worthy of consideration is the P7-M8. It is a relatively small pistol, 8 shot, 9mm, and is commonly known as the squeeze cocker. At $1,250 it is very expensive for such a small pistol. It is a very odd pistol and it does heat up quickly with its gas opperated action, but recoil is supposed to be very mild. The barrel is fixed and it is supposed to be extremely accurate, but I cannot vouch first-hand for it like I can the others.
