I have a friend of mine making a muzzle loading adapter for my Snider-Enfields. It goes where the cartridge would go and takes a #11 cap(I think that's what he said) the cap fits right where the primer would be.

My idea with this is to satisfy some of the Limited Entry Hunting(draws) we have that specify a muzzle loader with external hammer for the hunting season. This way I can use my Snider for both!!!

It is a bit funny since the Snider is a muzzle loader Enfield, converted to a breech loader and now I'm installing a muzzle loader adapter :)

They use to sell 12 and 10ga. adaptors that allowed loading the machined shell like a muzzle loader (had a nipple at the base), but the shell was a complete load without having to muzzle load so not a muzzle loader. Legality depends on local law, but if it's impossible to make your adaptor hold poweder and a bullet, seems like it should qualify.

Yes indeed. It has a very thick base(percussion nipple recessed inside so cap will be flush) and the main hole going out to the end is .50" so it would not hold any bullet that would work and likely only hold a powder charge of 40 grains or so(the majority of the powder will be ahead of the adapter)

I don't plan on shooting with it much, but it's a handy little tool to have around.
