Hey, I'm trying to get ahold of my uncle's Mark VII 44 Mag Desert Eagle. does anyone have info on the gun that would be of use?

I reload and its a very accurate pistol. :) It sits right between my Ruger NM Blackhawk .41Mag (tack driver) and the DE .41Mag (quick spike driver) at 30yds standing. :)

The only thing I would change (still thinking about it) is putting an adjustable rear sight on it. But I was going to do it to all three of mine just because...:)

Had a friend who had a Desert Eagle 44. He hated it. He said that to get it to cycle and function right you have to have Extremely HOT loads in it. He said it was a very picky gun about that. He's never mentioned to me what accuracy was like in his.

I originally used a 50AE conversion on a used 41Mag frame. The 41 did, and still does, cycle just fine. But the 50 needed stronger springs. I ordered an new set of springs and the 50 worked just fine. Sounds like your friend just needed a new set of springs.

I have three DEs: 41Mag, 44Mag, and 50AE. Except for the 50 throwing brass back in your face, all three are great pistols.

it is probably the meanest autopistol out there. it is definitely the coolest looking gun.

.44 magnum is plenty enough for many thing. people have used .44 magnum to take down bull elephant, rhino, cape buffalo, and other big beasts. anything more than that in a handgun may need a second thought of being chambered in a rifle.

You may be right about that, but he's LONG gotten rid of that pistol. But then again, he has done a bit of gunsmithing, still does once in a while, so he may have tried it.
I dunno.
