I have a Remington 700 BDL 300 Win. Mag. and would like to know if I can replace the barrel with a Remington 700 BDL 300 Win Mag Sendero barrel ? Are these simply interchangeable ? If so, how difficult is this process and what needs to be done ? Thanks in advance...

Yes you can, but there are some things to know, and I would recommend you go to an experianced person to help you on your first time!!
1. The old barrel will be hard to unscrew, this takes a barrel vise, and reciever wrench.
2. There is a recoil lug between the barrel and the face of the reciever that must be aligned perfectly when the barrel is tightened. There is a holding fixture for this, (some use luck,or centerpunch the lug and reciever, before removing the old barrel, so they can match the dots, on reassembly.)
3. If you are using a used or pre-chambered barrel, you must check the headspace, which is measured with a headspace gauge, also with a used barrel you may/probably will have, to turn it down on a lathe to get the writing to align properly, this will include cutting the face of the barrel also, so the bolt has proper clearance when closed, this will make the chamber shorter and then you will have to ream the chamber, with a reamer of the caliber you want, and check the headspace.
4. Then if the new barrel is a heavier contour than the original you will have to sand the barrel channel in the stock to accept the new barrel.
In reality there is quite a bit to it, you can`t just take a pipe wrench, and unscrew one off and screw another one on!
Good Luck David
Everything David said is correct, but you may have to do a little more than sand the barrel channel to fit a Sendero barrel to a BDL stock. Don't forget to put a good sealant on the areas where you have to remove the wood.

I appreciate all the advice, as soon as deer season is over, it's coming apart ! I'll do a lot of reading between now and then too. Could someone tell me what a Gunsmith would charge for doing the work ? If I get in over my head, I would like to know how much it's going to cost me...or how much I should repay a good friend.

I don`t know for sure but you can look at an E. R. Shaw barrels ad in Shotgun News and see what they charge as a reference only, but I do know they will only install the barrels they sell. David
