Hello all..
Eventhough I'm just becoming a gun owner I have been keeping up with things for quite a while, I know in 1994 Clinton in my opinion really screwed us over....
Now I don't want this to turn into a legislative debate or a legal debate.
I was on www.keepandbeararms.com a while back and I saw where the brady bill was coming up to be re-voted on I believe....
I was wondering if anyone had this information and who I could write (preferably email) to help to stop this bill from kicking back into effect or worst them expanding it?
I have searched keep and bear arms.com but didn't see it, and I searched on here and didn't see i either so any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Good question - and easy answers.
First, you should write to your Senators and Representative and explain your position on the above, and let them know you would like them to NOT vote to extend (restore, whatever) the provisions of the ban.
Also, you should write the same letter to the President.
Be polite, state your position, and let them know their actions will influence your votes in the next election.
That, and join the NRA, if we could get half the gun owners in this country to do the same, we'd have nothing to worry about.

The Brady law provides for background checks on firearms sales through FFL's. It does not expire and will not be coming up for a new vote. The 1994 "Assault Weapons Ban" will sunset next September. This is written into the law. It cannot be "renewed". In order for the ban to continue, new legislation must pass both houses and be signed by the President. It is up to all of us to see that that does not happen. Here is a great thread chock full of information:

Write snail mail letters to your local congresspeople, senators, and the big guy. You'll get a much better response with a well-written letter than you ever will with a e-mail.

Thank you all! That thread was exactly what I was looking for! Some premade letters so I can get an idea of what to write....
Now to find who to address them to.
It should be my congressman and senator not my governor too correct?

Yes, this is a Federal law and needs to be addressed by your Federal representatives. Don't forget the President and his advisiors.

Guys I'm in WV and I clicked on the link in that thread but who all should I send it to?
If someone has the time could you make up a list for me and pm it to me of who I should send the letters to? It would be greatly appreciated...
I see that they are sending out like 30 letters a month? I can only think of 4? Our senators the president and govenor?

You should be writing to every address in the first 2 posts of the thread linked above and also to your 2 Federal Senators and your Federal Representative. To find the addresses of your Senators and Representative click the link below and type in your Zip Code:

At a bare minimum, write to your Federal Senators, your Federal Representative, and President Bush.

Yes, you will have 2 senators representing your state and a number of House of Representatives Congressmen(women).
I agree that a hard copy or paper letter is much better than an email, though emails do work and are counted when considering public opinion.

If you go to the link in my last post and put in your zip code, it will provide you with contact information for both of your Federal Senators, and the member of the Federal House of Representatives that works for your district.
Paper letters have the most impact, because they take the most effort. But if your time is really that tight, ANY contact is better than none. As the Nike commercial says, "Just do it."

I strongly suggest the use of e-mail, written letters, AND phone calls. With the latter you can often get a feel for the amount of constituant input as you talk to the aid who answered the phone.
