Hello again,
Guys I've been looking at the sure fire lights, and right now I have a mini mag I keep with my home defense weapon (my revolver) and although it is "ok" its just not bright enough....
I'm looking at the surefires and there are a TON of them!!...
I want a light that can be used with harries technique (so rear switch activated) and is well bright enough to blind a intruder...
So which one would you reccomend? i don't want anything large, and I don't know how well you could hold the "hypodermic" type lights using the harries technique so which would you reccomened?
I'd also prefer it be able to fit in a pouch suited for a semi auto clip.
Thanks!

99GT: I've got a Shurfire 6N (I think?) AND a Streamlight Stinger. Both are rechargable. The Shurfire is more versitle. The barrel is made up of sections. You can disassemble and redo, shortening up to use the 123 type disposable batts. I seldom do cause it sets w/ my nitestand gun. The Streamlite is a Stinger. Came w/a wall mounted charger, cant use it if its in the charger, but BOY is it HOT. It'll peel the paint off the outhouse wall. Reminds me of the old cop's search lites they used to have in the squad cars. Stinger is slightly larger and would not be easy to use w/Harries tecq. unless you had hands like Bill "No Second Place Winner". Consider this. No matter which model you get, any of these hot llites die quickly. Not like your carbon type batts. which warn you as they slowly die. Get back up power cause when you need it ,it better be there. Well I don't mind the battery life as it will be a "defensive use only" so to speak....
not using it for an average flashlight.....
Have you ever used a mini maglight? if so could you give me a quick comparison on if the surefires are better/brighter?
Thanks!

99 GT: Take both lites into a closet. The mini ,mag will show you all you need to see to find your coat or your overshoes on the floor. Turn it off and turn on the shurfire. The spot will be so bright that your vision at the perifery will be impaired, the shadows are much sharper and you will have temporary flash burns. Not unlike what you get looking at a welder. The stinger is even more pronounced but it is slightly larger. If you must use the Harries Tecq. you will need the smaller light (1"dia.) It'll blind 'em.Pepe Ray

99GT, do you have a maglite "D" in a 3 cell with krypton bulb?(you know, the med/big one that doubles as a baton) The surefire is BRIGHTER! You can also get an extra reflector assy. that DOUBLES the output. you get half the run time on batts. but it is bright enough to literally be a weapon. Similar results to a camera flash unit, but it stays on. They also have a carrier for extra batts and the extra reflector unit that hangs on your belt. I'm not familiar with the technique you mentioned, but if you call surefire they might be able to point you to a dealer in your area that has stuff to see in person. I think they all have the base switch. if in doubt, get the "nitrolon"(?) model (plastic) for about $35-$40 and try it out, You'll probably want a couple of real good lights anway.

malamute, at work we sell maglites and I "tested" one of our 3 cell C ones and to be honest I wasn't impressed the least little bit....
Matter of fact my mini maglite seemd just as bright..
:D I've been using a 6Z for several years. The model has been replaced by the 6P, which is available for $56. Their batteries are also REALLY cheap and last a long time. Those little lights are absolutely the best in any given situation. They are extremely light and very powerful. The old five D-cell Maglites are now obsolete.
