Hello all, I am attending my first gun show tomorrow and may make a purchase. I was wondering, is there anything that I should watch out for? Thanks for any and all responses.

What are you thinking of getting? The chief thing to watch out for is misrepresentation of product. Post ban "assault weapons" with preban features, LEO hi cap magazines, the knife Herman Goering used to cut his steak, etc..

I'm thinking about a 500 S&W. But if the right rifle comes along, maybe?

Not a lot to go wrong on with the S&W. I thinking finding a new one will be unlikely and the odds on finding a worn out example... well, I wouldn't bet that way.
Good luck on the search!

Hard to tell, it depends on what the "shows" are like in your area. Here in GA most show venders push used guns and military surplus. If you know firearms well, you can wander around and compare prices versus condition of a type of gun you want. If you do get something, check out where the vender is from. Is he local or from out of state. If you decide later that your gun has a problem, and you wish to get your money back, you could have a problem if the dealer is a long distance off.

Thanks for the replies. Be on the guard is the message that I am getting.
