My local gun shop usually only stocks 3 brands of .40 cal, and all 3 are 180 grain. They also rarely gets any 7.62 ammo in, which is unfortunate because my two favorite guns shoot those types.

Rather than looking in the phone book for another place (there are a few I know of, but they are small shops, I doubt they'd have much of a selection), I was thought 'wouldn't it be great to order some ammo online and have it delivered straight to my door?' Well, in just about any state, I'd assume so.

But of course, there's a little problem. I live in California. The most gun prohibitive state in the US. No 11+ round magazines. No folding stocks. No pistol grip stocks. No supressors. No ammo? Does anyone in California order ammo online? Where do you get it?

I am not from California, but I buy alot of ammo online. I just went to the Cabelas site, link below, and looked at the .40 S&W ammo and none of the restricted states mentioned are California.

Thanks, I'll try to order a few boxes and post to let everyone in California know if it's just that easy.

:D just like the other guys said, ammo ordered and shipped by whatever means is no problem here in Ca., so far. Neither are firearms. I have purchased a few Winchesters from dealers across the states with no difficulty. These are post 1899 guns, too. Some dealers want your FFL even for pre 1899 guns that are shipped to this state. This is a personal requirement that has nothing to do with legal issues. I guess that the rumor mill is alive and well concerning California's draconian firearms laws. Trying to make sense out of them will drive you crazy, they are so contradictory. It's up to us to encourage legislators to straighten out this nonsense once and for all.
