hey,
im looking for a good way to polish the chamber of a target rifel to minimize deformation of the cartrige. i was thinking mabey lambs fat or valve compound. any suggestions
Welcome to the board, Ol Vet -
An appropriate sized bronze brush with a cleaning patch wrapped around it and J-B Bore Paste should do for minor reaming blimishes. A method to attach a hand drill to the drive rod would be a big help.

Ah, just how 'deformed' are your cartridges coming out?

Seems as if memory serves me right valve grinding compound is about a 320 grit , ori in that area. Pretty course by my standards. I've never polished a chamber before, but I have polished a fair amount of other metal objects. A simple round rod in a drill with very fine paper rolled around it then taped in place at the base works pretty well. Fine paper can be had at a body shop supply. I'm talking about starting with nothing rougher than 600 to start with. And I usually take it and give a 'dulling ' on a dummy piece of metal so it doesn't cut to much right off. I finish with 1200 (dulled) to a pretty fair sheen. Can take a bit of time though. Good luck.
