Does anyone have any advice for coyote hunting? I've tryed to call them in a few times but it hasn't worked. I saw that they have rabbit decoys but not sure the effectiveness.

Mariah is probably telling on you.(The wind) . In my town, there are two guys who bait, successfully! The one on the south side got 13 last winter &1 so far this. The other guy got 11 across the river. Don't know his score this year. True, you must have a place to do it, drag in a dead cow, that is. But real meat works. Pepe Ray

There are lots of factors. The wind is the biggest one. Everyone will tell you to try and set up so the critters have to come from up-wind, but in the real world that is very hard to do unless the terrain is just right.
You have to have a lot of patience, too. My step-father-in-law is pretty successful at calling them, but he said he had to try it many times before he ever got one to come in. Try a lot of different sounds, too. If a lot of people hunt in your area, the coyotes may get leery of certain sounds. Once you start getting them to respond to your calls, you can figure out how they are going to behave as they come in.
What kind of country are you hunting in? In my immediate area, there is so much brush that you can't see anything til it's right on top of you, but at the ranch it is open and you can watch 'em from a long way off.
Good luck, and keep trying!

My experience is that they will always circle downwind.... so you have to be ready to get on the trigger as soon as they show up.
I'd rather set up where I can see a long ways downwind, and rely on spotting them before the breeze takes the scent.
If you can use an electronic caller, then you can set it up so that the coyotes will have to get out in the open before they can spot you.
A challenge for sure.....

We've been mainly going out to the forest and watching out into a clearing about 200yards away. I've also tried open field but visibilty was poor that day.
I use a cottontail rabbit call. I've seen the coyote pup calls but not sure of their effectiveness in the middle of winter.

Howlers and pup calls will probably work better in the spring, although the howler may work in winter, too. I've also gotten responses from jackrabbit calls and fawn bleats. I was once using the fawn bleat call and had a fox come in and literally walk across my lap! I was bowhunting deer at the time, so I didn't shoot it. I watched it cross a field of cut corn, enter the woods and climb onto the log on which I was sitting - that gives you an idea of how far away they can hear and how close they can pinpoint the sound. It gave us both quite a start when it got to me!

I do all of my coyote hunting during the day from first light to about 9:00 AM and at night from about 12:00PM on . I use a mouth call during the day.
My best night hunting has always been during the dark of the moon.
Coyotes are more active at night and their activities are based primarily on the moon phases, in my opinion.
There is an old book called Moon Up ,Moon Down by John Alden Knight that explains the soluner theory. It's an excellent book that I've re-read. You can apply it to all hunting and fishing. I've always believed the major and minor feeding periods of acitivity for fishing as well as hunting.
During a full moon, try hunting coyotes between 11:00 AM- 1:00PM, they will be up and moving mid day.
If you are in an area with a lot of deer or rabbits, you've got coyotes, also.
We have tournaments where I hunt that last all week-end and we ususlly do pretty good.
When hunting at night, I use a regular car casette player hooked up to a 5 watt All weather speaker with clips for the battery. All of this sets in a foam filled tackle box with all of my casettes. I can turn the volume up, one man works the light, the other guy, has the fun shooting them.
I will call in more greys fox than coyotes at night, but still the coyotes will come within 75-100 yards at night, om average. Just use a good light , make sure of your target,( make sure it's legal) and use an accurate gun. They are not as big as most folks think. I use a 22-250 with a 10x scope for night work.
Once you get a system down, you'll start seeing results. I wouldn't worry about the decoys, but it might help to kill a rabbit just for the sent.
You don't want them to come in too close at night. remember, they hunt in packs. If you can kill one, it's best to turn the light off and keep calling. Usually, you can get more. But not if you've called them in too close. They smell you.
The added bonus is an occasional big old Bob Cat tha gets called in.
Good Luck
