Has the hunting in the rest of the southeast been as poor as Alabama this year? We normally have great hunting, see lots of deer. Not so this year......................

Hatch I thought I was only one who noticed this, didnt see any deer during bow season, havent seen any during gun either.
Talked to one person who had jus gotten number 12 for the year.
Most everyone else isnt seeing anything either.
Where are you at?

I'm in southeastern Alabama (Eufaula area), about 100 mi from the FL border to the south, and right on the GA border to the east. I've seen about four bucks (one of which a guest took, two of the others on the hoof), and about half a dozen or so does. We normally have a great number of deer and can be very choosy, but not this year. I know people in the northern part of the state that arean't doing any better, and several more within a 150 mile radius. I have seen some at night on the way to & from my lease, but not nearly as many during the day.....where are you located?

Know Eufaula well, live in Prattville, work outta Montgomery, drive an eighteen wheeler hauling food to restaurants, been going to Eufaula on Tuesdays for about seven years now.
Where is your lease at?
I hunt mainly WMA's and Corps of Engineers land up here, leases aren't worth my time.
At best I get two days a week to hunt so it isn't worth it to me.

Hey, you boys ain't doing something right! We got as many deer as fire-ants here in Covington County, Alabama. See them every day during hunting season, we formed an alliance with clubs that joined ours a couple seasons back, we all abide by a size limit and manage our areas. Alltogether, we've managed to pool together about 6500 acres which is 8 clubs. Things are looking up for us in the seasons to come in relation to antler size.

We have good-sized deer also, just not many of them, and this year only. We also have friends that hunt in Cullman, Sumter, Madison, Houston, Barbour, and Limestone counties that have reported less deer than last year. Guess we'll see what this year brings.....
