What are some light loads for the .257? Have a BLR in that caliber, shortened up so it fits her. She has shot factory loads without any trouble but thought it would be fun for her to shoot alot this summer with lighter loads. Thanks!!!

Henry,
I got some really nice accuracy from the Sierra 75gr. hollowpoint w/Varget. I didn't specifically load "reduced" powder charges but it was accurate from the starting loads on up. Recoil, of course, was less than the 100gr. bullets.
Hope this helps.

You're welcome. My 11 year old nephew, who is pretty small for his age, didn't have any trouble with them. Even blew up a jackrabbit with one! It's pretty much my standard gun/ammo for any new shooters, whether young or old. After they shoot a few rounds of that they can easily handle the 100 gr. loads without flinching. An aluminum can full of water just blows to bits with the 75 gr. bullet, very satisfying for beginning shooters, more fun than punching paper.

Hi guys,
I can vouch for similar performance from H4895 and the Hornady 75gr V-max. Excellent accuracy and little recoil. IDShooter

IDShooter,
Sounds like another good combination. On behalf of my daughter thank you!
