In woke up an ate a quick bite, showered and grabbed my gear. I got up to the mountain around 4:30am and after double checking my day pack and rifle I started climbing up the mountainside. I climbed for close to 45 minutes and reached the ridgeline. I stayed just below the ridgeline and made my way along it to the north end where it overlooks a meadow where I know the Elk feed. I found a blind mother nature made for me by drooping 2 of her old dead tree's and snuggled in for a the wait. After about 30-45 minutes I head something big coming down the trail above me and as I VERY slowly turned around to take a look see, I saw a pretty good size bull working his way down and across the hill side. After watching him through the scope I saw he was a 6x6 and a decent size fella. I raised the rifle in position and took a few slow deep breathes to calm my nerves. I put the cross hairs right where I wanted them and carefully slipped off the safety. I tried to not think about how many times I prayed for this moment or how many miles I had done over the years looking for him. I carefully applied more pressure on the trigger and then.....
The alarm clock went off,
Sorry guys.....
Well I really do dream about such things......don't you?
