Has any one had good results with Lyman #311413. What alloy and lube were used? Also when I wont to post somthing is it best to use a new thread on a topic I have already posted or use the quick topic spot on the bottom of my old thread? This computer stuff is all new to Me. The 1/2 blind guy needs to know. I had tried to e-mail KciH for reloading data on the 35 Whelen and was wondering if one tries to e-mail dose this server send out our adress or do I need to somthing special. Thanks for your imput.

If I remember right, that's a little 165-170gr. sptizer. IF an old mold (whicih I'd guess it would have to be) like the one I used, will cast about .312" and can be sized to .310" if that's your preference. Personally, think the pointed nosed bullets are more likely to be sized off center than the flat nosed or blunt nosed ones and would prefer the least amount of sizing that would allow it to chamber and shoot decently.

A lot depends on the size of the barrel's chamber/thrat...figuring the bullet has to pass thorough these areas and is going to become that diameter on the way to the rifling, may as well make it reasonably close to that size to start with.

Only notes I have on taht one mention using harder alloys as the nose secion is a bit small. With that much bullet nose hanging out the front unsuported by the barrel, it can be picky about what load will work and what won't.

Notes mention I used the same range of powders and charges as with a #311466 and got about the same vel....not enough difference to get worked up over; I was only shooting them at 1600-1700fps. In twelve loads listed, the 416 never did shoot better than the 466, but was at least equal in three of the loads tested.

Retrospect...perhaps shuld have worked with it more, but it left and the #466 stayed.
