Nice! What!?...you don't have a scope on that rifle??? I thought everyone used scopes!! Just kidding, I hardly use any scopes anymore, it has improved my shooting skills quite a bit now that I have to concentrate more using the open sights. Glad to see I'm not the only one. Thats some beautiful wood on your 9422. I have 2, one in .22LR and the other .22 Mag. Very nice .22's those Winnies!

Hey Dan, this is J Miller from LeverGuns. What vintage is that 9422? I ask because it could be, maybe is a twin to mine. Same color wood, same overall apearance.

Nice little .22, I think I'm gonna get a Magnum version to go with my LR one.

I would post a pic of my 9422Mag "moose defense gun" but you guys would be ate up with jelousy. The little rascal has had some HARD miles on it.

If I had carved notches for game killed, I would be on my third stock ;*)

Hey Joe,

I think it's between 1972 & 1974, I don't have the serial numbers ranges for the 9422s. I was told by someone that the XTR went with checkered stocks in late 1974, but who knows if this is correct?

Dan,

I bought mine new in the box in 12-77. No idea of actuall date of manufacture, but it's serial # is F242XXX.
How close to that is yours?

You got more numbers and letters on yours than I do.
I wish some one would come up with a serial number breakdown for these rifles like they have with the centerfire 94's.

J Miller, I posted on the "LAST OF THE 9422s" string, so if you read it disregard this post. I have a Brand new, in the box, with all the papers, 9422 M bought new before they were available to the public,in 1972. It is the first one sold in El Paso, Texas, and is serial no. onder 10,000 ( F98**) The rifle has had one box of shells shot through it, the box I bought when I bought the rifle, and hasn't been fired since!

As I stated there, I would like to see Win bring out two model 9422s Both with octigon barrels, one with a 24" full length magazine tube, rifle, and a 16" barrelled TRAPPER with a saddel ring, and both eith a case colored action. They can discontinue the rest, for my purposes. I'd buy one of each of the octigon barreled versions, in a heart beat!
