I have an old Lyman 6X All American mounted on a pre 64 Model 70. After 40 years, I guess it has leaked out some of the nitrogen. Does anyone know if there is a repair house that would still work on some of the old optics like this one?

I've seen ads in Rifle magazine for a place called Parsons Optics, or Scope Repair, something like that.
Haven't any experience with them, and I don't have an address for you.

I have a cousin who has a couple of the older Redfield scopes from way back in the 1960's. He called a place called
ABO (Redfield Optics Repair in Florida) they told him to send them on down and it would cost $26 dollars a piece for repair.

Well, they got his scopes and then told him they didn't have the parts to fix them and it would cost him $10 dollars each to ship them back to him, after he paid them $56 dollars mind you.

He called down there 5 or 6 times always getting a woman who spoke broken English. She told him he could trade those scopes in for NEW model Redfields at a discount price. The price sheet had the Redfield scopes inflated at twice the price of a Leupold. They just wanted him to buy their new line of Redfield scopes and spend more money I think.

Moral to story is, that if you have a Redfield scope that is 20 years old or older......DON'T send it to ABO company for repair, they will try and chisel you for extra money.
