This is a bore sight group at 50yrds! The first Three out the barrel! My father-in-law who is not easily impressed was hooting as loud as I was :D I was kind of thinking the kick was going to spin me around but it wasn't bad at all w/ the ported barrel and recoil pad. I got hurt more from resighting my .35 for a batch of hand loads. This gun has me chompin at the bit to go the hog honey hole this Sat. What really impressed me was this first group. Subsquent groups at 70yrds, once I dialed in the CHEAP simmon's scope I bought on e-BAY were awsome. I don't even know what power the scope is...Fixed 2x or somthing. The rear sight broke for the previous owner, somthing I'll fix to check accuracy w/o the scope which I think should be fine.

The factory loads are great for fun, arent they? Glad to hear you enjoy the guide gun. The rem 405's and the 300hp's are good for letting the nervous folk try a round or two. It wont be long and you'll be feeling what the guide gun can dish out for recoil. Wait until you start shutting "stuff". Some guys shoot through cement blocks and such. We posted a thread on this at MT to see what guys were doing when they got bored with paper punching. The ports will help tremendously in follow up shots. When you get used to the gun try unloading at the 25yd in rapid fire....that is a rush.

Happy hunting, you got a gem of a rifle that happens to be a growing well kept secret. Keep your ear-gear on, the short barrel is a barker.

Sounds great Seaweaver. Would love to see the pics but the links take me to a log-in screen and I can't get past that point. Do you have an alternate route to your pics?

I didn't take any pics, but I do still have the target. The first three from my 1895 were touching, two of them were practically one-holers. With the factory sights at abut 30 yards, I was impressed. I moved the sights once and the next two were also touching. Awesome.

I've seen some folks complain about Marlin's QC, but so far I haven't witnessed anything other than excellence from Marlin.

My brother bought a 336 about two years ago. First shot he hits a can off-hand at about 80 yards. I don't think that he ever moved the sights or even shot it from a bench. Sounds almost irresponsible, I know, but two years and several dead deer later, he still says he hits everything he shoots at.
