In the reloading world, you always record the data concerning your loads. I haven't heard much about what casters record. I've decide to put the data on index cards for future reference. I'm recording:
Mold Reference
Date
Alloy Blend
Ambient Temperature
Casting Temperature/Range
Pot Temperature Index
Diameter As Cast
Wieght As Cast
BHN
Number Cast This Lot
Total Number Cast
Is there any other information that I should be collecting for future reference?

RD, That's great ! More info. than I ever recorded. Never know when something might pique the old curiosity down the road, and you wish you had it recorded somewhere. Good job. I think you covered all the bases, and some. Jeff

Ranch Dog: I applaud you, or at least your intentions.I tried that years ago when I first started to arrange a bullet casting shop. Life got in the way. One interruption after another. Lost my focus. Now I'm just havin' fun.
There is one aspect you should consider. When you box your product you will be labeling it? you'll need an abreviated code to I.D. it so that you can relate the contents to your records. Otherwise you'll need to put your whole record on each pkg. Good luck. Your a better man than I am Gunga Din.

I set up a little dBIII database like this.
Field Field Name Type Width Dec
1 DATE ......... Date.......... 8
2 LOT .......... Numeric ..... 4
3 MOULD ..... Character ... 8
4 BLEND ...... Character ... 16
5 AMOUNT ... Numeric ..... 4
6 CAST ....... Numeric ...... 4
7 LUBE ....... Character .... 12
8 SHOT ...... Logical ....... 1
** Total ** ..................... 58
Cast is the number cast in that lot that passed inspection. Amount is the number not loaded yet. Shot is set to true when the Amount = 0, which makes it easier to list the lots that have Amounts greater than zero. As long as the box has the lot number on it I should be able to figger out what I've got.
Bye

Thanks guys for the encouragement and additional ideas. I think that I will follow Jack's idea of putting together an MS Access DB and it can print the labels Pepe suggested!
