Does anyone receive Successful Hunter (Hunting?) . It's from the same publisher as Rifle and Handloader. I'm due to renew my subscriptions to those two and was thinking of taking advantage of all three but only if Hunter is worthwhile. Any help would be appreciated.

I like it and subscribed to all three.

Interestingly, I used to subscribe to Handloader, and then for many years we advertised in it, so a subscription was complimentary, but I haven't advertised in Handloader for several years, yet about two years ago, both Rifle and Handloader started showing up regularly in my mailbox, and when they introduced Successful Hunter, it too finds it's way to me as well :):) I like the Successful Hunter overall, but I think John Barsness no-nonsens articles are what make that publication worthwhile.
It seems to me that Handloader has lost much of the flavor that it had eight or ten years ago, when the likes of Ken Waters was writing for them. It seems now to be just another slick-papered, syndicated paid advertisement. Sure, there are some good kernels of info there, but just like the rest of the gun mags, you have to search it out.
In all fairness, compared to the rest of the firearms/shooting related periodicals published, I'll have to concede that Handloader, Rifle and Successful Hunter, at least to date, are heads-and-shoulders above the rest of the periodicals available. Maybe it's just me, and I expect too much out of a magazine.
God Bless,
Cancelled all the other gun rag subscriptions years ago and only get the Rifle, Handloader and Successful Hunter now, along with the American Rifleman and American Hunter, which come with life memberships. The Wolfe publications have all the info I need and care to read. Sorta miss Rick Jamison's no nonsense articles, but won't buy the publication just to read his articles.

I guess I will have to add Successful Hunter to my list of Rifle and Handloader.
I recently found another Mag I like "Shoot" it covers a lot of information on weapons from the 1800's. Quite a bit of advertisement, but a lot of good articles of intrest especialy to fans of Lever actions.
