If facing a bit of a dilema folks. I am trying to decide which particular peep sight to put on my rifle. I am thoroughly enamoured with the Marbles tang/peep sight, but I am aslo quite interested in the Brockman, Wild West Guns, and the XS receiver peep sights. I plan on keeping some form of stock rear barrel sight on the rifle for 'backup', but I still can't decide on the main peep sight I would like to use. If any of you use/have experience with any of the sights I've mentioned I could definitely use some input and personal experience with these! Thanks!

Oldebones - I've got the XS sights on my Guide Gun to go along with the scout scope setup. They work very well and are tough as nails. Brockmann's Hex Sights looked interesting to me but they weren't available at the time I was buying my sights. The WWG's are tough too but are harder to sight in and adjust. Now on my 336C I've put the Williams FP Firesight set on and that is a fast set up which is easy to adjust and zero in. The front firesight shows up very well in all conditions. I've never used tang sights so I can't help you out there. I hope this helps you. CEJ..

I stared with the XS Ghost Ring & Front Sight, went to a WGRS & factory front and now have the Williams FP installed. I hope to continue to use the factory front sight with the FP but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. A taller front sight may be necessary.
I had trouble shooting the ghost ring from a bench rest, but they were nice for off-hand shooting. They're certainly durable. You can buy a threaded ring that accepts WGRS-type apertures. This would be nice, I think, for sighting in.
The WGRS is difficult to adjust. It has a tendency to move as you tighten down the locking screws. Once you have it adjusted, you're good to go. If you plan on shooting the same load for years and years, the WGRS would be OK.
Keeping the rear buckhorn sight in place may be problematic. If you have both aperture and buckhorn sighted in for the same POI, you are going to have the buckhorn as part of your aperture sight picture. I've never tried that and I imagine that it would be hard to get used to.
Let us know how this works out for you.

Thanks for the info. The rear sight on mine has the flip down sights, so hopefully it won't interfere with the sight picture with a peep sight. I've decided to go with the Wild West Guns receiver/peep sight for my rifle. It looks extremely sturdy, you can replace the sight discs with the Williams models, and it doesn't look half bad on the Marlins from what I've seen. I almost opted for the XS peep/front set, but the model with the ears won't fit my model according to their web site. I just wish XS sight systems would design a 'dot' or 'big dot' tritium front sight for the leverguns. I seem to do better with the round dot than I do with the white bar, but then again it's been awhile since I used a bar sight. Perhaps a Williams 'fire sight' front sight with an opened sight hood..........

I found that I had to lower the elevator on my fold down 1894 rear sight to get it out of the sight picture of my WGRS.

Another option for the backup rear sight is to replace the elevator type sight with one of the Lyman folding leaf sights. It fits into the factory dovetail, and when folded down, is totally out of the field of view for your aperture sughts. (same sight as is on new 10/22's)
I love that Ashley front sight, as I've found target acquisition much faster than with any other front sight, especially on moving targets, and for low-light level shooting it comes really close to being as efficient as my scout-scope setup.
I'll have to agree that the Ashely rear sight makes you "reach", somewhat up off the stock to see the sights, whereas the Williams FoolProof or 5D, as well as the Lyman 66 allow a lightning fast, natural sight acquisition with your cheek resting solidly on the stock comb.
Gotta love those peep-sights.
God Bless,

Well, I ordered the Brockman ghost ring sight, with the front post sight. What I'm wondering is, since the post fits in the stock Marlin ramp will the stock sight hood still fit? Will it impede how the sight set up works? Do you think one of the Marbles fold down rear sights would impede the sight picture? Thanks for the help all.

Edited to add: Decided to stick with the stock Marlin front sight (for now), and ordered the Marbles rear barrel mount fold down leaf sight (with windage & elevation) for backup. From all the information I've gathered this sight (should) stay out of the way of the sight picture of the peep/front sight, while still providing a backup if needed. Input would still be appreciated.
I have a model 94 trapper that has a williams fp with a twilight apeture for the rear and a fire sight on the front, it is very fast. The only problem is you can not define a fine edge on the fire sight for precession shooting. Other than that I love the setup for hunting in the woods.
