Does anyone know the max length that will feed from the magazine to chamber in a Win 94 trapper 44 mag? I can't seem to find out anywhere. I really don't want to do the "old" trial and error method. Because when I lock it up, I"m not real sure on how to take the Win apart.
Thanks.

I would suggest calling Winchester for the generic answer. I think to get the best result would be to soft seat a dummy round then take a dow rod and tap out the round. Don't crimp the round. Drive it home then tap it out. Why do you want to know this? If you follow the manuals, they give max. oal. Lever guns are not moa guns. I feel trying to get the bullet closer to the lands will not make any or very little difference in accuracy.
good luck

I'm not trying to get it closer to the lands. I'm wanting to get it out of the magazine without causing a jam. Reason is to be able to shoot longer/heavy bullets, reliably. Once it jams coming out of the magazine, you have real problems and its not so easy to solve that I am aware of.

Then dumby round is a good idea-but will not show you what will feed reliably. I'm afraid the dumby rounds made up at a couple thousnads difference in length(with the bullets you want to use) will be your best bet. Or have a smith measure your loading ramp? I've found that my Win 94 in 45LC has a max OAL of 1.640+or- .010 depending on bullet design.
