My grandfather recently gave me his old browning 22. I was trying to find out the value on it. It is a semi auto, the kind that loads in the stock 22 short. It has engravings on it that read "Browning manufactured in Belgium" And serial # 1E12328.

He also said he had an old browning shotgun for me, I don't have it yet so no info on it other than it was made in belguim, is a semi auto, and he called it a sweet sixteen, so i would assume its a sixteen gauge, it was very nicely engraved, so is the 22.

1in7,
I'm no gun expert (in the area of gun history), but pictures would help greatly. Would it be possible to get some? I know the next person to post will most likely ask for one anyway. I have no idea what they could be, but I'm sure some people on this site can help.

Without seeing .22 it would be hard to grade it , exept to say that any thing belonging to Grandpa should be considered "priceless " and "irreplacable" but for the sake of knowing , unless it is one of the higher grades offered a standard model should be worth in the neighborhood of $325.00 give or take for a piece in "good" condition . If it is one of the more ornately engraved II or III's it could bring $700.00 -1200.00 plus premiums depending on who engraved it . As to the shotgun the "granpa" rule applies to it too! Most Sweet sixteens in average encountered conditions will bring $400.00 give or take , the addition of a vent rib on the barrel could bring a 50% premiumto the guns price. Hope this helps.

Yikes ! i just reread your post after I replied, and noticed you mentioned it loads shorts. There is a 20% premium for a Grade I "short" model , this may apply to your gun. Did I mention the "grandpa" rule, O.K. just checking. Good luck
