Ok theres one in a gun store in my city. Its 539$ new with case and everything. Is this a good deal. I know you can get it cheaper on the internet but theres a 50$ transfer fee. So is this gun a good deal to get. It felt really good in my hand.
I don't know if its just terrible luck on my part, but all the Glocks I have ever seen shot has some sort of jamming problem. A cousin of mine bought a Glock 17 , 3 to 4 shots before it would jam. Plus I have heard similar things from others.
I'm not not trying to say they are bad guns, just thought I'd put this up here incase someone wanted to know.
One more thing to keep in mind, the one he had was bought around 1995 or 1996, so they maybe they've changed since then.

Pirate,
I picked up a model 19 several years ago, and it has given me years of trouble free service. The only problem I have had with mine is that I broke the adjustable rear site off after owning this pistol for around 6 months, had a fixed sight installed, and now the thing prints a shade low.
These weapons are simplicity personified. Durable, light, fairly accuratte, very reliable, and easy to master. I always thought of mine as a 16 shot model 10 smith. Certainly nothing fancy, but they get the job done.
I don't know what they are bringing these days, but as we are stending your money, I don't feel so bad about the price you have indicated. These guns in used trim are excellent deals, as it is nearly impossible to abuse one beyond servicibility.
Good luck,
Steve

IronPirate, I think the Glock 19 is a excellent handgun. The $539 seems to be on the high side though.

I have a G26 and a G30 that work superbly. The G19 is also a nice weapon. $539 is pretty close to the prices in the shops around me, but I don't know about NC.

IP,
I just bought a Glock 23 about 3 weeks ago and I ended up paying about $455 for it after a 5% discount for trading a gun it. The normal price was $479. The gun is absolutely fantastic. It is very accurate with every different kind of load I can find and so far I have put about 600 rounds through it.

I second the high reliablity and sound weapon. Had mine for at least 5 years and it had been problem free.

I've owned 3 glocks, 2 9mm's and a 10mm and they have al been exceptionally accurate and flawless performers. Any of the used cop guns from the major depts are good deals. They all have regular maintenance programs conducted by trained armorers. And as stated above I don't think you can wear out a glock.

I have a very low numbered 3 digit....model 19. I bought it in 1988 as a backup for ODS. I have been shooting it on a regular basis since 1992 and have never had a failure to function. It is perhaps he most reliable pistol I have ever had. I keep a dab of Rigs on the slide rails and a drop of oil on the workings.....keep it clean...and it goes to town.
I had to do something about the trigger though. Changing to a 3.5 lb disconnector really helps as does a general smoothing. I added an extended mag release and put a "cousin weak eyes" fiber optic front sight on it. It is the "go to" pistol anytime I am teaching a novice shooter and a joy to shoot.
They ain't a 1911 but they sure do work good....

I have a G22 and like the others have posted, it has been nothing but a wonderful service pistol. I see why so many departments issue it. It is reasonablly accurate out of the box, (the trigger is heavy). It is extremmly reliable, I have an easy 2500 rounds through mine with only a handfull of failure to ejects, basically stovepiping due my limp wristing the gun on each occasion. It is very easy to disasemble and clean, very very tough guns. I don't think you will be dissapointed.
Im glad this post resurfaced. I am a converted Glock nut now. I have owned a 27 and two 30's, the latest being my OD Green G30.
The one my cousin had must have been a fluke, which I guess can happen with anything since I have seen HK's, Berettas, Colts and Walthers jam. Since I made my first reply in this topic, I have learned a lot more. I can see this, any mechanial device with moving parts can fail. My Glocks have been nothing but reliable, the G30 is a soft shooting very accurate .45 compact .
By the way $539 was too high without night sights. We just got done with the Chantilly, VA gun show and we were selling regular glocks with 3 high cap mags for $459 + tax. Average though, is around $480 for the 17/19/22/23/26/27/31/32/33 with regular sights. The 20/21/29/30/36 run a little higher, as well night sights add around $80-$100 usually. The 37/38/39 .45 GAP models run between the standard frames and the big frames in price.

My local Sportsman's Warehouse has an everyday price of $449 for a Glock 17, 19, or 26. Price does not include night sights.
If your $539 quote includes Trijeon Night Sights, then it's a fair price. If not, the cost is high.
Trijeon sights are much more dependable than the Meprolites (that have a lot of returns) and come with a 12 year warranty.
$449 is too cheap, thats almost dealer cost. I dont see how they can sell them that cheap and still stay in business.
The ones we sold so cheap came on the Glock Stockign Dealer program, which gives ya some slack. Although, thats only good for 15 guns per year.

Arrington's is a police supply company that does a ton of quantity supply work for police departments all over the country. The one in Charlotte NC had G19's for public sale for $392. This is the same price Glock offers to individual police officers, firefighters nationwide. People really gouge the public over Glock prices!
Give police supplies in your state a once over! If you are police / fire, contact Glock directly for the form for ordering.
:D
...by the way, keep an eye on things when you're gettign Glocks that cheap. You might be getting factory refurbs.
Tarheel, what color label did those $392 Glock 19's have ? White, Red or Blue ?

A call to my friend near Blacksburg Va. revealed his latest G19 purchase at $395 nib. These are not refurbished guns, but new production. Add 40 for nitesites.
They have to be selling LE discount guns to everybody.
Tarheel check your private messages. I sent you one a couple days ago.

My local dealers are offering basic G19's for about $499 - before night sights.
Thats about normal pricing. With the stocking dealer stuff, we let ours go for $459 and that was CHEAP. I dont see how that other place is selling them for sub $400 prices.
