I recently made a local gun trade via the local advertiser.
This individual had a T/C Contender with a Super 14 .44 mag barrel and a shoulder holster for sale. It also includes a 2x Leupold scope. His asking price was $475.00 which I though was relatively cheap with the addition of the $200.00 plus Leupold scope.
I called and fished him out a bit and really didn't want to spend the money so I went out on a limb and offered a Winchester Legacy .22 RF rifle which is worth considerably less.
To my amazement he was interested.
When I drove out to his house he acted a little odd. He had a friend there that wouldn't look me in the eye when I asked why the barrel unlocked so heavily.
He replied that T/C said it was because it was a new barrel and needed broke in (lie).
He only referenced one negative comment about the hammer safety.
I replied that I could lap in the barrel to make it open easier. I was only there for about 5 minutes before I snatched up the gun and holster and was on my way.
When I got home I noticed th hammer safety was stuck and the gun was really hard to open (even more than I had previously realized). I had hand cramps after several minutes of playin with this gun and realized it had problems.
Too make a long story short, it was an early model Contender and he had purcheased a later model .44 mag barrel.
I sent the gun back to T/C and thye replaced the hammer ith the new G2 style select hammer and modified the action to accept the newer G2 barrels.
It works like a dream and I couldn't be happier.
It cost me nothing to get fixed thanks to to T/C's great service.
I highly recommned T/C Arms and their product, which I own the Encore and others.
Moral of the story - one's loss (for stupidity sake) is my gain. :D :D :D
Next time send them into the manufacturer before trying to rip off others.
