Lyman lists several different heights of their folding leaf sights. Which one do I order. No one in our area carries them in stock. I want to put them on an older (1952) model 94 and on my 336 (vintage 1951). Do they both have 3/8" dovetail slots. Is this industry standard for dovetail slots that hold the rear sight? Any help would be appreciated. JOHN

If you check with Brownell's they have a Marbles and Lyman guide to help you fit a sight to your gun. I hope this helps.

Yes, the Lyman folding sights you describe have standard 3/8" dovetails as do both of the rifles you describe wanting to intall the sight upon. The fitting guide listed above will take the mystery out of which sight height to purchase.

Good sights, are they for a backup sight to perhaps an installed aperture, or intended as your primary sight?

Let us know.

They are to be used as a backup to apeture. I really appreciate both you guys responding however I could not locate the lyman's fold down sight on their web sight or in the catalog. The catalog did list the marbles fold down. I found the instructions for calculating the height I need to order. I found this in the catalog but could not get it to come up on the web sight, in fact I tried several different searches and got some bizarre listings as a result. I am not too impressed with that sight or I am just plain "thick".

Question: in the method they gave for calculating the correct sight height they want you to measure to "the top of the rear sight", in one application. Now is this the very top of the leaf or the heighth of the "V" groove? I must be making this more difficult than it really is.....JOHN
