I just bought an HK USP .40 cal. It is a very sweet shooting handgun. The workmanship is also very good. I have a question about the rifling. It doesn't appear to be the rifling I am accustomed to seeing, where the lands and grooves are very well defined. Is there a name for this type of rifling?

Welcome, you have just pruchased the finest handgun the world has to offer. No prejudice either ;) The HK USP series has used polygonal rifling since November of 1994, similar to what Glock uses. Also, for that reason, you should not shoot cast bullets in the USP. The name is just what it is, Polygonal. Also, check out the best HK web sight around, HKPRO. (http://www.hkpro.com/) Everything you ever wanted to know about HKs is there and if not there, we can help you find it.
