This is for the rest of you guys over ehre in my(dry) side of the state. I'm tripping a mini-30, and getting another Savage Bolt gun. I want a good rock-chuck/ Coyote gun. The debate comes down to the .243, and the .223. I am leaning toward the .243 due to the longer shots that are out here, and the world famous "Columbia Basin Rain Storms". Also read 50mph winds and a free sandblasting.
However, my hillbillies in arms over here think that the .243 really doesn't buck the wind any better than the .223.
...So, let me have it, whattaya think?

Get the 243, then give your friends a personal introduction to physics 101 in that Columbia Basin wind tunnel!
I love the .223's, but for your applications, I'd say the heavier bullet of the 6mm bore will better serve your purposes for extinguishing whistle-pigs in your incessant wind!
Just my two cents worth.

Yup, like Marshall said. Run the numbers through the Ballistics Calculator.

You can get some Ballistic Coefficients off the Hornady site.

You can split the difference with a .22-250.

The 6mm Rem drifts significantly less than the 22-250, and leaves the .223 in dust (no pun intended!). The .243 will do just about as well as the 6mm. This is based on experience in the eastern Montana windtunnels!

check the ballistics tables on any of the bullets you might shoot in the 223 or 243. if you want to shoot a 22 centerfire you can come up with bullets in the larger cartridges that rival the wind bucking ability of the 243.
