TO ALL YOU GUYS (OR GALS) THAT HAVE AN OUTFITTER OR GUIDE GUN.(I HAVE BOTH) IF YOU CHOOSE TO PUT A SCOPE ON EITHER OR BOTH OF THESE WEAPONS YOU SHOULD TAKE A SERIOUS LOOK AT THE LEUPOLD VXII 2X7X33 SHOTGUN/MUZZLELOADER SCOPE.(PART#56750) THE PARALLEX IS ADJUSTED FOR 75YDS,1/4 INCH CLICK ADJUSTMENTS,WITH EYE RELIEF OF 4.9" AT 2X AND 3.8" AT 7X. ALSO THIS SCOPE IS ONLY 11" LONG. I ALWAYS HAVE IT SET TO 2X UNLESS MORE POWER IS NEEDED FOR THE LONGER SHOTS. THIS IS MY REASONABLY CLOSE RANGE WEAPON AND IT IS GREAT TO BE ABLE TO FOLLOW A MOVING TARGET EASILY USING 2X. ON 7X I KNOW WHERE MY POINT OF IMPACT WILL BE OUT TO 200 YDS. THIS WOULD BE MAX RANGE FOR ME. I SEE AS MANY BIG BORE LEVER GUNS SCOPED AS NOT. SO IF YOU DECIDE TO SCOPE,TAKE A LOOK AT THIS COMBO. JUST AN OPINION FROM SOMEONE THAT HAS TRIED SEVERAL DIFFRENT MEATHODS OF TARGETING.----GOOD SHOOTIN'----pruhdlr

I would just get the regular Leupold VX-II 2-7x33mm as parallax set for 150 yards is better suited to your rifle and potential 200 yard shots, and won't make a bit of difference closer. You might want to consider a heavy duplex if you hunt low light conditions.

The scope that is mentioned above is a heavy duplex. Seems that i forgot the most important thing about it. It's also matte if that makes a diffrence to anybody. Good point about parallax, but i still prefer the closer set parallax. Also don't anybody be affraid of the thick duplex. " It " will shoot half inch groups from a rest at 50yds.from the .444. ------KEEP SHOOTIN'----- pruhdlr

I got that same scope and finally shot my Marlin 1895 CB today for the first time. Wow!, that gun packs a punch! I was shooting some handloaded Hornady 350 FNs with starting loads.

I need to be careful and not let my head get too close to the scope. It "kissed" me a couple of times. I'm not used these big bores and their recoil.

Nice scope, isn't it...

I sighted in for 2 inches high at 75 yards. Theoretically I can hold dead on out to 140 yards on a 4" target. Going hog hunting this weekend in Victoria Tx. Most shots will probably be under 50 yds.

Hogs on 2X---can't beat it.Much better than any "scout scope" setup. Rested on 7X you can reach out to 150 or just maybe 200yds. As long as you have punched paper at that range,WHY NOT !! Hey, i can hit a 10" pie plate at 100yds from my unscoped .45-70 if i have a fairly good rest. The bullet drops alot out there,so what. As long as you know how much it drops your ok. The thumb rule that i use is if you hold on top of the plate and shoot under it then the target is too far. I hunt hogs in NW Fla. and the big calibers are the "cats meow"--- GOOD SHOOTIN"---pruhdlr
