In addition to Lyman, RCBS NEI etc, I have nine Lee molds, either single or double cavity. All nine have the same problem of the sprue pivot screw loosing up during casting. This occurs even though the pivot has been lubed per Lee's instructions.

Has anyone come up with a solution to this problem? Either installing a set screw as do other manufacturers or maybe some high temperature adhesive such as Loctite? Would have to be able to hold at a temperature up to about 800 degrees. Don't think Loctite will.

Does the Lee 6 cavity mold have the same problem?

Jonah, in a word, yup. D&T, install a set screw. While you are at it, polish the under side of the sprue plate. This whole process, including anything else done to improve the mould, is affectionately know to many casters as: 'lee-menting'. I have done many of my Lee moulds, and it improved everyone of them. If it ain't broke don't fix it. But if it is broke, fixin' it won't break any more. I have a particular Lee mould, my first one, that might be getting close to..., well, I got it about 1972, and it still casts a decent boolit. It's been lee-mented. My latest Lee mould is the 312-155-RN, and I've already cast a big bunch of boolits with it and did nothing other than clean and smoke it. Eventually, it too will be lee-mented. One nice thing about a $14 mould is that if you screw it up royally, it's only $14, not a hunert. sundog

Thanks for the reply.
I haven't had a Lee sprue plate pivot loosen until I took it out to polish the plate.
Old Blue Loctite's been working so far.
The 6 cavity is a different set up, with the cam handled sprue plate.
