Thanks.

You can call Federal and they can tell you if any of their distributors still have any stock. They will also give you the address/phone for the distributor.

Other than this, the only way is buy loaded federal ammunition and shoot it since to the best of my knoeledge Federal does not currently sell components.

Just bought 186 rounds of it on e-bay. I could not find it listed at any of the suppliers.

Federal got out of the business of supplying new brass. I was able to get several hundred (a couple of lifetimes worth) of Federal 7mm Mag brass from www.oncefiredbrass.com (http://www.oncefiredbrass.com). You might check with them. They will charge you a reasonable fee for handsorting by headstamp if they have what you need.

Thank you for your replies. I guess I'll have to go with Starline brass.

Is it the consus then, that Starline brass is superior to Winchester or Remington?

I don't know about "consensus" but there are certainly a lot of Starline fans around here--especially when it comes to pistol brass. Do a forum search for "Starline" and read the 'best brass' and similar threads.

Is Federal brass to be the best? If so, why?

I shoot black powder cartridges and haven't noticed much of a difference except for slight change in volume.

Most brass will do a pretty good job. Seems Remington is the least desired due to longivity. Winchester, Federal, Starline are all good, IMHO.

Maybe I haven't ever reloaded anything to a high enough pressure or reloaded a batch of brass enough times, but I have never had a case fail of any brand. That might be considered lucky, but it's probably just unfortunate that I don't get to shoot enough to wear 'em out! I have tended to use Winchester brass in my Winchesters over the years, it just seems appropriate.
