I dont know if there is any other Aussies here. Howdy to all I've been a keen hunter for 17 odd years now hunting eveything from kangaroos to dear, pigs to duck. My pride and joyis my winchester ranger 30-30 lever action. althought my 308 and 222 hold there own in the feild as does my shot guns and .22's when required.
I am glad to have finally found a place to chat to other long arms and pistol users. this sort of forum is near unthought of in Aussie as best I can find.
looking forward to swapping info and meeting new m8's
cheers

Howdy From Ne. Never met an Auzie I didn't like. Met a number of them in Nam, and found them to be excellent military men. Met a few in the states via Rotary exchange as well. A great fun loving people.
That said, have you tried cast bullets in your 30-30? If not, I recommend you give it a try.

Indy7373, I live in the Pensacola area. I hunt the area north and slightly east of PNS. Mostly swamp hunt w/ a boat for hogs. Also deer and hog hunt in Ala. just north of Flomaton. Come to think of it i hunt just about anything that seems to need to be hunted. We don't want to see the other animals take over the world do we??--- GOOD SHOOTIN'---pruhdlr

cheers all for the welcome.
I got some good m8s that are yanks and kiwi's met them mostlly during joint exercises when I was in the service.
cast slugs Hmmmmmmm may look into that 1 day for the moment I got a sweet load I use with 125grain serria FNHP. they lose there hitting speed over 250 yards but anything inside the 150 is toast and the other 100 just means a 2nd shot.
sweet for medium to big game I tend to load 170's for the big razor back feral pig and water buffallo. those bad boys dont like to lay down some times. the local pigs all ya need are a good knife and 2 dogs that work well togeather or a bow if you are that way inclined ;).
I thinks I am gonna like it here.
