Free Meal on Veterans' Day. Honest.

Applebee's will buy any active or retired military a free meal on November 11th. It's not a scam as far as I can tell. Good for them.

And on November 16th, Golden Corral will serve current and former service members a free supper. Check their website for details. These two chains are to be commended for their offers.

I was in a local Ponderosa the other day and they have a poster up with the same offer-free buffet for servicemen/women.

Great But,............

While I am extremely appreciative to Golden Corral,Applebee's,and the others that would provide a free meal during these times of war,I know which one I would choose if my wife and I decide to attend.

Reading both of the website's I see that while Applebee's demands proof of service("show proof"),Golden Corral does not(no ID required). Guess which one will surely draw all the vagrants, homeless, beggars, and "others".

Thanks but......I'd surely choose Applebee's. -----pruhdlr

True, but the sad thing is many of the above are vets.

Nonetheless, those are the places I'll choose to go the rest of the year, in thanks to them. I still thank every manager of Outback Steakhouse every single time I go there for their most generous actions during the first Gulf war.

(In case you don't remember, they chartered a giant airliner, collected some of their most lovely staff members and flew about a bazillion steak dinners to Iraq. And nobody asked them to do it. I'll NEVER forget it.)
