Helpless for the First Time

I have been gone for quite a while. Sorry to dip back with this news.

My wife, Ginny has just been diagnosed with stage 3B Pancreatic Cancer. It has grown so fast that the Doctors are saying that they have only seen 4-5 cases like this. We are starting all the radiation and chemo treatments, but the best that we can hope for is 9-12 months.

Ginny is a Christian and has always been anxious to see her Savior, but is understandably scared of this part of the trip.

You know what? I have been the visitor from our church that goes to the hospitals and stays with the sick. I have never had a problem praying for the folks that need it and have been granted by my God the ability to stay awake for long periods of time to comfort those that are in need.

For the first time in my adult life I am having a hard time praying. I know that He hears the groans of His children, but I am truly having a time attempting to itterate my prayers. I have great Christian friends that have come along side me and my wife. Our family both biological and church have been wonderful. I teach a mens class in Sunday School and have been ministered to by those fellows, too.

I am asking that you pray for God's will to be done in the matter of Ginny's cancer and that I will be the husband and friend that she needs during this time. The kids are having a go with this and that is weighing on Ginny.

I am really counting on the promises that have been laid out in scripture. One that I cling to is that where 2 or more are gathered in His name, His Spirit will be among them. Please lift us up to the Our Saviour so he can bring them to His Father.

I love you guys and will try to keep you posted.

I know this is a hard time for you and yours but God will only give you what you can handle. Easy to say isn't it, but Gods word is true. We will all take the Big Trip some time, so death is not a punishment, just a way to get to Him, finally. I am the way, the truth and the Life, NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER BUT BY ME. So by Him she will finally go, as will you and I. I will pray for the strength to carry on.

Prayers sent. God knows the burden on your heart even when words fail. God is too good to do wrong and too wise to make a mistake! May grace abound.

Just a follow up. Ginny is tolerating the Chemo and Radiation well. She is in her 3rd week of both. She is being radiated 5 times per weeka at a rate of 10 zaps per visit. the Chemo is 5F/U ??? whatever that means and she is reciving this 24/7. As far as they can tell, the tumor has not grown since the surgery.

A little nausea is plaguing but it is held at bay by a pill that does not make her drowsy.

The pump goes off about every 5 minutes. The grand daughter says she sounds like a robot.

God is so good. He has given us a verve for praying together. It is amazing how Ginny is getting prayer. As far as I can tell, besides your warriors, prayer from approximately 7-8 states. We went to see our pastor today to talk about funeral arrAngements in case that is in our immediate future.

Thanks so much for the lift. I will try not to wait so long for the next update.

Be looking for our GOD using you for something even more than you have been doing. I say this because he usually has to bring us to our knees and helpless without him before he can utilize us for the next step in his plan.

I am praying for you and your wife for healing and health.

your Brother in Christ Jesus.

We are done with Chemo & Radiation. Ginny is still battling nausea. Had to put her in the hospital last week to get rehydrated and knock the nausea out.

Keep the prayers going. We will have pictures on 11/19 and them we will know more.

Dan- and all others, PLEASE keep spreading this around. I do know and believe in the power of prayer. After all, God promises to hear us even in our moaning and groaning.

Thanks Brothers!
