I can't wait to get my .376 250g Beartooth bullets I ordered in December but I know their is a lube problem and I understand. Anyway while I am waiting life goes on and all I have are 220g Hornaday FN bullets. I received my lee reloading die set and it had a sheet with sample loads on it. To my suprise it listed a MAX load of AA1680 with the 220g bullet @ 2300+ fps, also the 200g jacketed MAX load of AA1680 @ 2500+ FPS. Does anybody know if this is misprint? The best I have gotten with the 220g in my 20" Win BB is 2050 average with 33g 4198(uncompressed) or 37g REL 7(compressed). AA1680 is not listed anywhere for the 375 Win in any of my load books. Would this be a good powder for the 250 Beartooth cast bullet? Any info would be helpfull.

I just called the Accurate powder Tech line and they told me the MAX load AA1680 (38g) w/ 220 Hornnady bullet is not a compressed load. They also said the CUP on this load is plenty safe at 44,000 and reminded me that the MAX load for the "Winchester 375 is 52,000+ CUP. This works up to 2,650 ft lbs at the muzzle. The 200g jacket bullet @ 2510 fps will yield 2,799 ft/lbs @ muzzle.
The Thorniely relative stoping power for the 220g bullet load is 129. For the 200g bullet load it is 126. I wonder if this powder will do any good for the Beartooth 250 .376 bullet.
I have always liked the 30-30 winchester trapper model. I have had one of my Winchester 375 BB cut down to 16.5 inches and a FP peep sight w/ ghost ring aperature and short ramp front sight w/pink dot installed to use on the cut-over brush portion of my land. With these loads even in my 16.5" barrel, I will have more velocity and knock down power than my 20" barrel winchester 375 *with factory loads. I love the way the short light carbine feels and handles.

As a matter of fact, the AA-1680 powder is my top pick for the .375 Winchester with the BTB .377"-250g LFNGC bullet!

I've used it to get some pretty amazing velocities when using fire-formed .30-30 brass!

In using standard Winchester .375 brass, try this:

BTB .377"-250g LFNGC/36.0g AA-1680/WLRP/Win Brass/2123 fps (Marlin 375 20" BBL)

It is a sledgehammer, and well within pressure limits, but let me tell you that it makes the little carbine buck!
