Please help me, I understand the .444 is one of your favorite rounds, and it has been suggested to me to use the 330grainer of BB.  I want something that will be devastating w/in 100yards where most of my shots on elk/ black bear will be.  Is BB's 330 grainer the one for the job?  I also want it to be effective against angry momma grizzly in case I stumble into her while elk hunting...I also wouldn't mind moving up to a 400+ grainer if at all possible.
Also, I own the Marlin 444SS and heard that the twist rate of the 444 rifles doesn't stabilize a 300gr bullet...true or false?

Bottom line...I want to get the MOST out of my .444 as I can...I know it's a great round, I just want to see what it can REALLY do.

444 Shooter, I'm sure you will get some good info, but there's a lot of good info on this site now. use the search feature by clicking on search under the word register. New page opens then enter 444 in the box and click search. The screen will start dancing and return its answers in in a minute or two. You also might run a search using triple 4 or triple four as key words.
In loadswap.com are more loads listed for the 444. Log in there and look on page 4 for some data. If this seems simple or redundant, I don't know how familiar you are with this great site. Good luck.:)

The stability issue of 300+ grain bullets in the 444 is an old wive's tale, much like "Micro-Groove barrels can't shoot cast." One or two people who don't understand advanced handloading had trouble and spread the word as gospel.

You can find Marshall's pet load using the 330-grain LFNGC on page 3 of the Leverguns & Their Cartridges directory, under the topic "444-Any Favorite cast 300 grain loads?" I'm confident it would serve your needs quite well.

But, now you've raised another question...What is a Micro grooved barrel and how would I know if I had one.  (I have a used 444SS) Never heard of it until I started visiting the marlin and BB sites.  
I've pretty much decided to go with Marshall's pet load, of a 330grainer, and hope for the best.

Your SS is definitely a Micro-Groove rifle. Newer Marlins have gone with Ballard rifling. The difference is in the number and depth of lands and grooves in the rifling. Micro-Groove barrels, as you can imagine, have many and shallower grooves and lands than does the more conventional Ballard system.
