Went to the shooting range yesterday, minding my own business, fully intending to shoot my 45 Colt Anaconda and Winchester clone 92 and not bother any one.
One of my supposed friends walks and drops a sack on the shooting bench holding 500 once fired 375 H&H cases.
Since I have three molds for 375 and now have 500 cases I'm forced to begin the hunt for a rifle.
Hate to see those cases go to waste, the molds will last longer if I use them. It's the best rationalization I can come up with right now.
Any suggestions on what rifle I should use?

arky: new, out of the box I'd bet you'll have less start up problems by getting one of the Czech Brno ZKK models. These rifles usually feed properly and  shoot very well, good triggers .  They can sometimes use a bit of polishing on the rails and raceway but don't demand that treatment. I would explore the used market for an older model first though.

Some friend to put you in this horrible situation. I could use one like him. Then I could tell the wife that all new acquisitions are the fault of the friend who simply placed me in an intolerable position that forced purchase of another rifle.

            Seriously, how about a Ruger #1 in .375 H&H. Kinda like a modern sharps, with a classic English flair. I enjoy the heck out of mine.

             Second choice would be a Winchester model 70 classic or pre-'64.

              Just be glad that friend didn't give you some .470 or .600 Nitro Express Brass. Seen the cost of a double lately ?

Bullet weight and diameter are constant, velocity is always a diminishing variable. I like the hunt to be over after the shot.

Seconding the motion for the Ruger #1. Add a Moyers trigger and you're in hog heaven.

Have two of them.  One is a Remington with synthetic stock.  I have this addiction to heavy calibers and was anxious to try it.  It weighed around seven pounds and hurt when fired.  Five or six rounds were about it.  I put a mercury recoil reducer in the stock, in a walnut plug cut to fit and glassed in.  It added 2 pounds and the recoil is manageable.  The light weight would be a plus for carrying but not shooting.

Then I saw a model 70 in 375 H&H. Out of the box it is far more fun.

Lock, Stock and Barrel had surplus 300 gr FMJ bullets on sale and I ended up with 600 of them so I haven't bothered to work up cast loads.
