Walt Melander passed away today

Hi, Gents:
Walt Melander of NEI bullet moulds died of a heart attack this morning. I believe NEI was Walt alone, so there'll be a big hole in the custom mould business, without his 500-600 designs.

Bye
Jack

Jack: Three weeks ago I was ready to order a mold from Walt. Had to get a money order etc. mailed to him but got tied up preparing for a moose hunting trip. When I got back he was gone. I sent a query to him about different molds for the caliber/rifle and got back the most succinct and direct information I have ever received from a shooting products supplier. This is a major loss to the cast bullet fraternity and I have missed my chance to own a mold made by him unless I can come to terms on a used one owned by a poster on this board. There are a few other one man operations out there making molds but I am amazed how few men and how specialized this aspect of reloading is . What a pity.

It is truly a regrettable loss to our sport. I hope someone steps up and takes his place.

Yes, I hope someone is able to pick up and continue carrying the "torch".

Always am saddened by a loss of anyone in the fraternity.

Regards
