I am missing something on sizing die set-up. Every die instruction and load manual has a puzzling statement to me. I especially noted it in the RCBS neck sizing die instructions for my .308. "It says to adjust the expander ball to at least 3/16ths above the bottom of the die." OK, you dont want the expander ball to be below the die case. It then says "the decapping pin will protrude just enough to knock out the spent primer." Well, it extends way beyond far enough to knock out the primer. I think everything is fine but what is the intent of this statement?

Sounds like a classic case of the person writing the instructions never having actually used the item...

If you run the decapping pin too far down, the expander plug (which the decap pin screws into) may mash the bottom of the case.
