I've decided I'd like another case trimmer. I have a Lyman that has served me well for many years but I've convinced myself that it would be convenient to reserve this one for revolver cartridges and have another one for rifle brass.

Hornady has a new micro-adjust feature that looks interesting, then there is Forester et all. Anybody out there who's been impressed by a trimmer lately?

Leadslinger, I have one of the older Hornady trimmers (Pacific type) and find I can do a good job easily with it.  It uses shellholders instead of collets, nothing extra to buy.  I also have been looking at the new model from Hornady, it looks to me like they kept all of the good features of the old model and added some new ones.  Let us hear if you buy a new one, I'd like to read what you think.  Odessa

I HAVE USED THE FORSTER-APPELT TRIMMER SINCE 1965. IT IS A PEACH BUT TOUGH ON FINGERS. I'VE USED THE LYMAN TRIMMER FOR MAYBE 10 YEARS WITH EVERY SATISFACTION [ I OWN THE FIRST POWER DRIVEN ONE THEY EVER MADE ]. THIS HAS BEEN A GOOD TOOL ALSO.
I ALSO HAVE THE BIG RCBS POWER CASE TRIMMER. IT IS A BRUTE, FAST AS ALL GITOUT WITH RIFLE BRASS.
TO PICK A FAVORITE...GEESH...MAYBE THE LYMAN...

I've been in the market for a case trimmer that has outside neck-turning capabilities. Anyone out there know which one has the best attachments for that [and/or the best 'bang for the buck']. I've seen neck-turning stuff for RCBS [think it only works w/ one model of thier trimmer??] and Forester trimmers but don't know much else about it and i've actually been considering just getting a one of those real small metal lathes [which while more expensive might be more versatile?]. Anybody have any thoughts?

  I've tried three different trimmers. I'm now useing a Forester and am happy with it. I'd better, I've got six of them now. Being lazy I like to leave them set up. Wish I'd found it a lot sooner. Good luck.

Until yesterday I.ve used the same Forster for over 40 years. Have replaced the cutter several times. It wouldn't accomodate some big based cases as is so took delivery of an RCBS Pro-trim (or is it Trim Pro: it's in the basement) yesterday. Ran 250 30-06 cases through it today. It's faster to use than the Forster and seems to cut better which probably means I need another cutter in my Forster. Has a sort of micro adjustment which sets up easily.  I like it just fine. As usual, something back-ordered ,which was the shell plate for the big cases that I wanted it for in the first place. Lucky they (the cases) seem to go and go without needing more trimming than I can do with a chamfering tool. May rig it up for power trimmimg with some bits and pieces I have kicking around but it seems pretty good. besto.
